In Everything Give Thanks

Image
I n everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 A question that readily disturbs us now in this dispensation is this: “What is the will of God” This bothers both the secular world (though they might not admit to believing there is a God) and the religious world alike. Things seem to be getting worse but not better. Is it the will of God those things go on like this, or will there be a change? Bless God, that as followers of Christ, we are not in the dark about the will of God, but it has been shown to us through Jesus Christ the Light of the world (John 1:3). Apostle Paul through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit writes: “in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Here the will of God is stated in the simplest form, and it is to give thanks in everything. Is not it amazing that the things of God are simple and it requires is a simple mind to grasp it (Matthew 11:25)? How is it possible to give

Jesus Paid It All

Image
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14 In the beginning, when God created man, He created man in His image and gave all of His creation into his care (Genesis 1:27-28). Man became the caretaker of all of God's creation but, somewhere along the line, man lost the care of God’s creation after being tempted to eat the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:17). Ever since then, man has been in debt and, it can be paid for only through death (Romans 3:23). God in His infinite mercy made way for man to repay the debt through the sacrificing of animals in the Old Testament, which went on for a great while. This, however, was not enough to repay the debt that man had fallen into. No amount

On to Perfection

Image
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith towards God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits.  - Hebrews 6:1-3 When a child is born, there is an expectation for the child to grow up and someday become an adult. The child is also to exhibit some characters of the parent. The course of nature sees to that. In a few cases, however, this expectation is not met. As Christians, our Lord Jesus also expects us to grow and become perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). You might then say how can one be perfect if Jesus said no one is good, save one, that is God (Luke 18:19). That is a valid question, and the answer to that is, in Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and t

A Hymn of Love

Image
O Lord, how I love you so dearly Words are not enough to explain my love for you I know not how to express/contain myself when I think of your love But glory to God for the Holy Spirit  that helps me in my weakness Your love is so encompassing that when I fall a thousand times you raise  me up ten thousand times I, a mere creature that you created You bestow such wonderful grace upon What did I do to deserve such love? I have no answer to this. Oh, how can I repay this love? I know not how. Out of the abundance of your love in me all I can say is: Take my life and let them be consecrated Lord for thee Take my moment and my days let them flow in ceaseless praise Take my sliver and my gold, not a mite will I withhold I lay my life down as a living sacrifice Let it be well-pleasing unto thee my Lord

The Truth Shall Set You Free

Image
And you shall know the   truth, and   the truth shall make you free.”  - John 8:32   Freedom has become the clamor of this generation. Everyone wants to live in complete freedom, but the irony is the more we fight and push for true freedom, the more we get enslaved by what ought to bring us freedom. At some point, questions arise as to whether we will ever get true freedom? What ways are there to get true freedom? There is only one way to get true freedom. There aren’t multiple ways to do it. Bless God that the only true freedom we have is in Jesus Christ, the blessed Son of God that gave it all for our sake. How can we get this true freedom promised by Jesus Christ? The answer is in the text above “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” There is a prerequisite, and that is to know the truth. The question then becomes how do we know this truth that will truly set us free. Oh, bless God, He did not leave us to figure out that on our own, but he provided us wi

Joy In Suffering

Image
For to you  it has been granted on behalf of Christ,  not only to believe in Him, but also to  suffer for His sake, - Philippians 1:29  As Christians, we ofttimes live in a bubble that once we give our life to Christ, all things will begin to work out well, and that’s the end of our suffering. We barely even hear today in churches or any Christian discussion that there is something as suffering in the Christian life.  At a certain point in our Christian journey, there comes suffering for the sake of Christ (we get persecuted for what we believe in). The bubble we once lived in is gone. At this point in our Christian journey, when the suffering sets in, we begin to wonder if we did something wrong, maybe God doesn’t love us, or at times we go to God to ask Him to take away the suffering as soon as possible. Sometimes, the suffering lingers. What do we do then? Has our Christian journey been a farce all along, or have we indeed done something wrong? That brings us to the point that a sol
