The Truth Shall Set You Free
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
- John 8:32
Freedom has become the clamor of this generation. Everyone wants to live in complete freedom, but the irony is the more we fight and push for true freedom, the more we get enslaved by what ought to bring us freedom. At some point, questions arise as to whether we will ever get true freedom? What ways are there to get true freedom?
There is
only one way to get true freedom. There aren’t multiple ways to do it. Bless
God that the only true freedom we have is in Jesus Christ, the blessed Son of
God that gave it all for our sake. How can we get this true freedom promised by
Jesus Christ? The answer is in the text above “You shall know the truth, and
the truth shall set you free.”
There is a
prerequisite, and that is to know the truth. The question then becomes
how do we know this truth that will truly set us free. Oh, bless God, He did
not leave us to figure out that on our own, but he provided us with an answer.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. – John 16:13
The answer
is the person of the Holy Spirit, and thanks to God, He has given unto us freely the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-18). The Amplified translation of this text
says: “He will guide you into all the truth [complete truth].” Oh, glory to God
that we can have the complete truth to set us completely free.
There is a
part for us in this, however, we can see that in the previous verse of the main
text (John 8:32), and it is for us to abide in the word of God (John 8:31). That is the
other side of the coin. We can not let go of one at the expense of the other.
Are you out
there today seeking true freedom? Whatever it may be, I have good news for you. There is true
freedom in Jesus Christ. Abide in the word of God, ask for the Holy Spirit to
reveal to you the complete truth, and I can assure you that you will soon
partake of true freedom in Jesus Christ. If you are saying, I don’t have the
Holy Spirit, how can I get this true freedom? Surrender your life to Jesus
Christ today and ask of the Father for His Holy Spirit, and He will readily
give unto you (Luke 11:13)
