Word of Truth

 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and might, to declare his transgression unto Jacob and Israel his sin. ~ Micah 3:8 The word repentance is less spoken of in the Christian circle today, and whenever it is, it is with flippancy. You only have to change your thinking (this is not wrong as the Greek word for repentance means this), and you are good to go. The word repentance goes much further than this. If John the Baptist said just that, I do not believe he would have done well preparing the way for the Lord. Just like in the day of John the Baptist, until there is sincere preaching of repentance, I believe we will not have true revival.  Sadly, the church expects people to repent when they do not know what they are to repent. A cliche sermon on repentance goes thus: “There are blessings from God that you can not access until you repent of your sin” This is not wrong, but it’s beginning to sound like repentance is just a means to get bless...

But when the fulness of time came, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoptions as sons ~ Galatians 4:4-5 There is time and season for everything under the heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1). A pattern in the relationship of God with man is this: God gives a promise to man but does not fulfill it immediately. It takes time for God to prepare man and the event around Him for fulfillment. The time of preparation might be for a while, but God will surely fulfill his promise ( Habakkuk 2:3 ). Put it this way, it will tarry until the appointed time but will not pass. Let us take the case study of when man fell into the bondage of sin (Genesis 3). After man sinned, God laid out to man the promise of redemption (Genesis 3:15). Before the fulfillment, however, there was a long period of waiting. What happened during this waiting time, and what is it that we can learn from it? Two things happen during this waitin...

And he repaired the altar of the  Lord  that was broken down. ~ 1 Kings 18:30 One of the greatest tragedies in the life of a Christian is this: there are a lot of broken altars, and instead of repairing the broken altars, we are building new ones and expecting the fire of the Lord to fall upon the new altar. The truth is that the fire of God will not fall upon the new altar when there are broken altars, and we might as well end up with another broken altar. The case study for today is one of the most amazing stories in the Bible: The story of how the prophet Elijah turned the whole of Isreal to God in one day, or we could call it how he had a reformation (1 Kings 18:20-40). Notice that before the prophet called upon the name of the Lord God, he repaired the broken altar. The Lord answered him by fire. There is a common saying amongst the Christian circle that goes thus: Jesus already suffered it all for my sake, so therefore I do not need to suffer any bit. This saying is unbiblical as it does not agree with the truths expressed in the scriptures. One of the marks of a Christian is in their willingness to suffer for/with Christ. So if you as a Christian are unwilling to suffer for/with Christ, it is either one of these: either you are still are carnal Christian (1 Corinthians 3:1-4), or you have not genuinely experienced salvation. A Christian that is unwilling to go all the way for Christ is limited in enjoying the blessings of the peace ...

It goes thus: “Let us not get too involved in the work of God that we forget the God of the work.” It has become the status quo for most of us Christians today. We think to ourselves that because we are involved in the work of God, that automatically means that God is pleased. Far from it, what I write now may surprise/anger you, but that is the truth. God does not care about what you do for Him if you are not wholly devoted to Him first. God is not after what you will do for Him. He is out to win your heart instead.  Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. ~ Galatians 5:1 From the moment we become born again (translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light), we are set on a journey. We are journeying from a city of destruction, where we once were slaves, to a celestial city prepared for us to reign with Christ. While setting out on this journey, it is paramount to realize that we are at war with the prince of the city of destruction, who does not want to lose any of his subjects. One of the aspects in which we battle with the prince of the city of destruction is “standing in the freedom purchased for us by the prince of the celestial city” (Galatians 4:4-7).
